Important Race Day Info For All Athletes
Timing Bibs
This year, we will be using disposable timing chips. The timing chip will be attached to the back of each runners bib and does not need to be returned at the end of the race. It is important that you do not fold, wrinkle, or otherwise alter your race bib. It is also important that you wear your bib on the front of your shirt. Failure to probably wear your bib and timing chip will result in you not receiving an official time.
Your time will start as you cross the start line and stop as you cross the finish line. Do not trade bibs with another athlete.
Buses
(Marathon & Half-Marathon Only)
Bus pick up locations will be confirmed and updated soon
Starting Area
There will be water and POWERADE to drink, remember to dress warmly at the full and half- marathon starting areas.
Clothing Drop-Off
Both the half-marathon and the marathon starting lines will have gear bag drops. Your expo goodie bag doubles as a gear drop bag; please bring it with you to the starting line if you intend to drop-off a bag. Each bib will have a bag tag that you can tear off and zip tie to your marathon bag. A volunteer will collect your bag, and we will have a truck take your belongings back to the starting line. We will have an area at the finish where you can retrieve your bag based upon your bib number. Please ensure that your tear off bib tag is attached to your gear bag. This will enable us to return your bag to you quickly and efficiently.
Any items left along the route will be considered a donation to charity. The only location we can retrieve items and have them for you in time at the finish is our gear bag drops at the starting lines and at the Half Marathon start for Full Marathoners.
While we take the utmost care with all items left at the gear drop areas, we DO NOT recommend putting valuable or expensive items like cameras, car or house keys, cell phones, money, watches/jewelry, expensive clothing, or otherwise in the gear drop bags.
Port-A-Potties
Portable bathrooms will be located at the start, finish, and every three miles along the full and half-marathon course (beginning at mile 3 for the marathon).
Aid Stations
The aid stations will be located every 2 miles throughout the marathon and half-marathon course (for the marathon they begin at mile 3.) Each aid station will be equipped with water and electrolite drink.
Energy Gels will be at miles: 7, 13 & 19 for the full marathon and at mile 6 for the half marathon.
Marathon miles 9, 15, 21 & 24 will be equipped with bananas and oranges. For the half- marathon it will be at miles 2, 8 & 11.
Food or gel will be located on the first table. Electrolite drink will be on the second table (first table if no food or gel), and water will be on the final table of each aid station.
The 10K course will have share aid stations from the last five miles of the marathon route.
Miles/Turns/Clocks
Each mile will be accurately marked. There will be a clock at the start and finish (The full marathon will also have a clock at mile 13.1).
All of the turns will be clearly marked by a sign and staffed by a uniformed volunteer or law enforcement. Please obey their instructions; they are there for your protection and safety.
Course Time Limit
The marathon & half marathon course will be closed at 1:00 PM. All marathon runners must maintain a pace of 13:44/mile that enables them to cross the finish line no later than 12:30 PM. Runners falling behind this time will be required to move to the side of the road or sidewalk and obey standard traffic laws such as stopping at stoplights and intersections. Aid stations will not be available after 12:15 PM.

Kids Fun Run
The Kids Fun Run will be held at Snake River Landing on the West end by the Pond.
MP3/iPod/Earphones
While the M.A.D. Marathon does not prohibit music players or earphones, we encourage you to keep the music low enough, or use only one ear bud, so that you can hear instructions from course marshals, volunteers, and uniformed law enforcement, as well as hear other runners that may be passing you from behind. Music loud enough to be heard by your fellow runners can be both distracting and irritating. Please use courtesy and common sense when setting your music volume.
Volunteers
Our race doesnt exist without our volunteers. If you have friends or family that arent running, but want to be part of the experience, encourage them to volunteer. We welcome both individuals and groups such as church, scout, work, school, or neighborhood groups. If you know someone that may be interested, they can volunteer from the button on the homepage or by registering directly by clicking
here
.
Finally, if youre participating in our race, you've benefited from the generosity of a volunteer. While we take every opportunity to thank them ourselves, please help us out and tell the volunteers what a great job theyre doing. We firmly believe we have the best volunteers in the world and they deserve to hear it often!
